Loving Your Wife by Pastor Joe Campbell

Sermon Points

Pastor Joe Campbell – Sunday AM July 31, 2016

“Without the correct keys the great potential and blessing God has for you will never be experienced.” – Pastor Joe Campbell

Ephesians 5:25,28,29
“(25) Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her…(28) So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. (29) For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church.”

God has provided certain keys that are critical to marriage. Without the use of these keys, the marriage experience will be horrific and never reach its full potential. Keys provide access to places and treasures that we would never gain access to without them. Matthew 16:19, “[a]nd I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

We are given access to heaven for insight on how to respond to our wife, speak to our wife, and treat our wife. Ecclesiastes 4:9-11 states, “(9) [t]wo are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. (10) For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, for he has no one to help him up. (11) Again, if two lie down together, they will keep warm; But how can one be warm alone?” The keys provided to us by God make marriage beautiful and provide a refuge for our wives.

The great potential of a marriage will never be realized if we continue to inject the wrong key. Far too often we try to apply methods and suggestions found in books or provided by the world, but the key to marriage is found in the Word of God. Ephesians 5:25, “[h]usbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it.” It’s not through wealth and riches that a marriage prospers, it flourishes as we recognize our selfishness and kill it.

The old wild, selfish ways and attitudes must die. It is our thoughts, our time, conversation, our passion, and our effort that our wives desire. Ephesians 5:28-29, “(28) So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. (29) For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church.” When you think about loving yourself, do you think about loving her? It isn’t natural to hate your own flesh. We must be a fountain of love that nourishes and sustains her. The true joy and great reward of marriage follows the use of God’s keys.

“God’s word always works when you apply it…this is how you build a strong marriage” – Pastor Joe Campbell

POEM by PASTOR CAMPBELL for PASTOR ROY SUBLASKY FUNERAL

To My Brother, My Friend

To Roy, My Brother My Friend

Laborers Together, Until The Very End

Remembering The Roads You Travelled – The Trials, The Tests

Many Times Laboring for God With Little or No Rest

The Joy, The Reward, The Nations You Served

No One Can Deny The Souls You Stirred

Always There In Those Difficult Times of Despair

1990– The Year of The Split

You And Isabel Never Flinched, Or Thought To Quit

1997– The Year To Build The Church on Frye

I Had To Leave, Respond To a Need, So Away I Fly

For 9 Months Im Gone So Far Away

While You Labored On The Building Both Night and Day

You Sacrificed, You Gave Time and Again

Never Once Heard You Complain, Not Even In The End

The Memories, The Miles, The Many Smiles

Chile Crab In Malaysia, Dripping From Our Chin

Talking About Jesus To No End

You Teaching and Preaching In His Great Name

Born Again On Washington Street, Never The Same

You Followed The Call, Isabel and The Family By Your Side

Gods Hand On Your Life, Turning The Tide

The Days, The Years, They Have Come and Gone

Now We Have Gathered Today To Sing Your Songs

To Say Our GoodByes With Tears In Our Eyes

Knowing Now Youre Living By JesusSide

Youve Been Washed By JesusBlood, Forgiven of Sin

Knowing In Heaven There Is No End

The Lords Crown Sitting Upon Your Head

No More Pain and Nothing To Dread

We Look For That Day We Will See You Again

So For Now Its GoodBye, My Brother, My Friend
